Ralph: Honeybunch, I wanted bananas and milk for my cereal in the morning!
June: And that's what I bought!
Ralph: But the bananas are green!
June: They'll be ripe in a matter of time!
Ralph: It will probably coincide with the milk's expiration date!

Really green bananas take about a week to get ripe enough, with a bunch of little brown spots when they’re more healthful.

I won’t even eat bananas if there’s any green left on them..At the other end of the spectrum, I throw away milk once it turns green, which around here is about ten minutes after I bring the groceries in from the car.

I am sure there is recipe some where that involves green fried bananas with cream made from the milk.

Put the green bananas in a paper bag for a couple of days and they will be ripe.

Put an apple next to the bananas. Be ripe in about an hour. AT least at my house they do.

I always try to buy part ripe and part green (to the extent that I’m likely to use them. And I WILL refrigerate the last ones rather than let them get over-ripe. It turns the ski ugly, but no one eats the skin.

Ultra-pasteurized milk has a really long shelf life. The only problem is that in most stores, only the expensive varieties (organic, or lactose-reduced, etc.) are ultra-pasteurized.
