I hear the IRS is targeting businesses that receive a large part of their transactions in cash. That is so unfair! It’s not like anyone would think they can get away with not declaring income when there are no 1099s, checks or credit card receipts to trace the money…
Actually, the teaparty conservatives, Cruz, Paul, etc., want to overhaul the IRS, by going to a flat tax or national sales tax with no income tax at all. The liberals want to expand the IRS, as is evident by the IRS trying to enforce the Obamacare mandate, which we all know is nothing but a money grab.
The Tea Party flat tax will hit the middle class and small businesses particularly hard. I guess the would mean no mortgage deductions or medical deductions. The big companies will still be able to do inversion and keep money off shore. Big oil and peanut farmers will still get their subsidies, and a ton of money will still be spent on the defense budget. Great Plan!
Sales and VAT (“fair tax”) represent the MOST PUNISHING taxes on the middle and lower income brackets, period. Be it Koch or Soros, the political leanings of the wealthy, hoping to stay that way, aren’t as definitive as where they spend their money. It’s interesting that if you look at where “liberals” spend, it’s typically to improve the human condition, but where “conservatives” spend, it’s an investment in constantly increasing their share of the pie, be it to fight taxes, or influence politicians (of all sides) to spend ever increasing amounts on their products; especially bombs, bullets, and military equipment- that rarely works.
Ignoring that it isn’t the IRS, but the impact of “big box” stores that move in and wipe out small business owners, the biggest disaster to small business in America. From donut shops to clothing stores, hardware stores, and liquer stores, it’s those big corporations, not taxes, that wipe them out.
A good number of years ago before I retired, I owed quite a bit more money to the IRS one year than I as a middle class worker and head of a family could possible pay. I went to my local IRS office and adopted the humble attitude that I really wanted to pay, but my wages were just too low (you do know that the ordinary govermental workers that are in such offices are themselves taxpayers. they are indeed) I not only received very good and even sympathetic help, but they worked out a payment plan that made sure that I and my family had enough to live reasonably well as a middle class taxpayer!! I have always been grateful to those people, and I sometimes wonder if I would receive just as much help from a private bank?
Of course, had I gone in with the kind of negative attitude towards not only my own taxes, but certainly the negative attitude towards federal taxes in general that I have seen exhibited on these comment boards by some of our more ultra conservative posters…. Then I could see the same people turn solidly (and rightfully) against me and have shafted me just as much as such people seem to want to be shafted!!

Someone has to make up for the tax breaks for the Koch Brothers, Willard the ChickenHawk, and the rest of the billionaires.

This comic has nothing to do with taxes. Its about a small business that had its entire bank account emptied by the IRS.

Cube, it’s the same IRS that has been doing this under almost EVERY administration! You are guilty until you can prove yourself not guilty.
