Mr. Spaetzle: Why do you keep riding your bike when it's miserable out?
Frazz: Because I can.
Mr. Spaetzle: Why do you persist in gooding off?
Caulfield: Funny you should ask.
-as to riding or running in the cold and rain THAT is beyond stupid. -
No. It’s called not shelving my independence and carpooling with someone. My eyesight is just bad enough that I can’t pass the test to drive a car. So I ride a bike on my commute and errands for most of the year instead of being dependent on someone else.
My cyclocross (bicycle) race tomorrow will probably be held in snow and below freezing. Why do I do it? Because it’s fun. Because it both teaches AND requires skill. Because it shows you that your limits are plastic, and that humans are remarkably resilient.
And because I’ll take it over watching cars doing left hand turns for hours, or choosing from a pool of guys I’ll never meet and collect fictitious points based on their performance. And I probably should take it over answering silliness on a message board.
Just because you can’t or won’t do it doesn’t mean someone else can’t enjoy it.

As our local late night TV horror show host used to say: Scratch glass, turn blue, but do it while you can, and don’t get caught.

2nd Panel answer—“Because I can.”To generally agree with Night-Gaunt49, i think he is not challenged enough.

OK, Now I’m wondering — if someone is being diligent and doing exactly what they should be doing, are they goofing-on? Hey — I just made a Caulfield!

“THAT is beyond stupid.” And of course, you’re never wrong. It doesn’t matter why Frazz rides in bad weather to anyone but Frazz.
