I turn off my porch light and wait for the little monsters to show up. Then I jump up and TP them before they do unto me.

I buy a HUGE bag of candy. On Halloween, we turn off the lights and watch a scary movie while eating our candy.

I had 60 trick or treaters last year and I wasn’t living on the busiest of streets for kid traffic. I know some others in the area that team up at a house b/c they can get over 1000 kids in an evening. 60 is nice b/c you can give kids multiple pieces. A friend of mine and I get together and give out to the kids and enjoy the evening.

Two of our daughters live in townhouse developments; the dress in costume and sit on the front steps. They get about 100 kids, almost all from the neighborhood. We live at the end of a looong driveway, and in 40 years I think we’ve had about 6 trick-or-treaters. The big action is at the local malls.

We get tons of trick or treaters. My entire development is like one big Halloween party building up from the beginning of the month. I love it.! I

[furry-faced grin] Wonderful comic Robb!!! Very real!++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Fortunately, we still get trick-or-treaters as well. But we also have all the organized halloween events, parties, and “trunk-or-treat” gatherings as well. So, most kids get 3x more candy than I did as a kid! :)

We lived in a tract home in Riverside, CA that was part of a very large development (360 homes). We had parents busing kids into our tract because there were so many houses in a relatively small area, and very little traffic. We would have as many as 300-400 kids every Halloween. Moving to Victorville was a shock. We bought as much candy as we always had and had 6 kids come to the door, all of them living within 3 houses of us. Since then, I buy Tootsie Pops. They stay good for at least a year and kids love them (as does my husband).

Children in many areas of my city still go trick or treating. Much of the fear of trick or treating is based on pure urban legend. There is only one recorded emergency room case of a child being poisoned by Halloween candy. It happened in Massachusetts and it was his own father that did it.

I can’t remember the last time a trick-or-treater came to my door, but then the Jehovah Witnesses don’t either. I’m not complaining.
