One thing besides the note. Put the timer NEAR where you are using the timer for. If it is the oven. Place it on the stove if it is a stove/oven combo. Or hang it somehow from the oven handle.
Worse than that, we got a newfangled electronic type timer and couldn’t figure out how to turn the %$#@&! ringer off. Nearly ran the battery down before one of us figured it out.
