My question today, given that a “leaker”, anonymous, shed the story to the press, is he a disgruntled political appointee, maybe from the prior administration? Someone genuinely trying to “clean things up”? Or just blame Obama for this one too? HInt, I doubt Obama has a key to the house, actually.
The Secret Service needs to be back in the Treasury Department. It hasn’t been the same since they force moved it into The Department of Homeland Security.
Clearly the Secret Service has some big problems. I am sure there are dedicated, very competent agents but it looks like management has become dysfunctional.
I don’t think there has to be a dark secret about the “leaker” trying to hurt Obama or anything. If you worked for the Sercret Service, and knew that your superiors were lying to the press about their incompetence to save face; that could easily be reason enough to let the truth out. Because it’s the right thing to do.
Respectful Troll, I’ve known a number of Secret Serice folks over the years, including a family friend who was also a friend of Dan Quayles back in the day. I have the highest respect for most of these folks from “the old days”.
But, “mugens” has it 100% right, for the Secret Service and a number of other agencies; “Homeland Security” reorganization, and the idiotic creation of 33 new agencies, and add in the intervention of Congress in day-to-day operations though funding MANDATES, not necessarily the actual amounts, you get a real mess, and poor morale, and poor appointments, not just “hires”.
Clearly this cartoon is inaccurate. For Mr. Gonzalez to be interviewed for AG, he have to have some PC political bonafides. “We don’t want nobody nobody sent.”

Best take on the story actually.

At least the creation of DHS was based on the basic Republican principles of smaller government and lower costs.
Didn’t it?
