Elephants have been found to be better at some numerical tasks than chimps or even humans! The ship that torpedoed itself! The HMS Trinidad was struck by one of its own torpedoes in the North Atlantic in 1942 having evaded those fired by a German destroyer. Pedantic correction: the torpedo did not hit the Trinidad in the North Atlantic. This occurred in the Barents Sea (an area of the Arctic Ocean) as convoy PQ-13 headed for Murmansk in the Soviet Union.

My dog is good at basic arithmetic. If I put three biscuits in my pocket, but only give her two, she can solve for the missing biscuit. She has no trouble with pi, either.
