    Which is worse. Not playing in a game, or striking out as the last batter and your team loses by a run?

    ladyfinger86, ordinarily I’d agree, but in the likely event that Peter WILL play with his father watching (because everyone else will have injured themselves), he will bring baseball disaster to new heights – and his father WILL notice.

    As I said yesterday, CARTOON LOGIC demands Peter play.

    Normal cartoon logic might dictate some sort of abberational event that puts Peter on the field, but Foxtrot logic suggests that Peter will sit out the game as normal and his father will find a way to interpret that in a good way.

    See, in “cleats”, we hear about the evil dad who wants the coach fired for not winning. Now we hear about the adorable Dad who hasn’t yet been to his kid’s game. No more adorable that the angry overbearing father. Neglect isn’t pretty either. (Guilt trip 101). Exactly how is he going to be let down when he hasn’t been to a game yet and his communication with his kid is so bad he doesn’t even know he’s not playing. SitCom Dad’s abound in comics as well.

    With any luck, Roger knows exactly what it’s like to be a bench-warmer.

    After watching Roger play golf, I don’t think Peter has to worry.

    @RavennaAl:

    From my high school basketball benchwarming experience (4 years), it’s much worse just sitting there and not getting a chance as you watch your team lose repeatedly.
