What sense would it have made to fragment? All these communications networks meant to bring us together seem to emphasize our differences rather than our similarities. It’s extreme rhinoplasty on national levels..It calls to mind a Kurt Vonnegut Kilgore Trout bogus novel wherein the human race finally achieves immortality and then humans immediately proceed in attempts to kill each other.

It appeared to me that the dream of an independent Scotland was not the people’s but the power brokers of the established government who want to rule themselves and everyone else in Scotland. I bet it would make a good novel if there was an underground hero or group laced into the story who constantly crying foul of the heavy handed ways of the power brokers. Nah, to common.
