I’ve never see tape that brittle; does that actually happen? BTW: there was a boy at the thrift store where I was shopping last weekend that was ‘man-handling’, tossing around 33rpm records like they were worthless junk. An era he’ll never fully understand or appreciate.

I didn’t know they made reel-to-reel (not cassette) tape recorders that small.

I had one in 1966 that was about that size, maybe a bit bigger. It laid flat though. The reel to reel tape was always getting unwound. I think it is still in the corner of the attic somewhere.

Transcribed some very old reel-to-reels to digital after borrowing a r2r player to be able to do so. Got to hear the voices of great-grands long gone. Hang onto the old machines if they’re still working, someone out there badly needs them like we did.

“The Bloop” from the deep ocean is a pretty spooky sound too!
