Um… from the front and/or back, is Snoopy’s dog house roof flat? I always thought it was pointed. He and Lucy sure know to balance on it.

That’s a Tardis doghouse for sure…suddenly it’s big enough for a kid to walk around on!

Snoopy knows how to make love, not war! (It was 1967—the Summer of Love was on the way.)

Why does Lucy always pick on Snoopy? She should be happy that he is a intelligent dog. I have enjoyed Peanuts for many years.

Have a great Sunday to everyone!

How can a dog insult you unless he pees on your leg?

The best weapon that will always work on Lucy is a kiss from snoopy.

When Snoopy’s brother Spike came to visit, years later, he was “as thin as a promise” (Lucy’s words) from living in the desert with the coyotes. Lucy took him home to take care of him and fatten him up. (True, she kicked Linus out of his bedroom to let Spike stay in there……) Over the years, Lucy did have a few good qualities. “Five cents, please!”

A kiss in time saves nine! This means if you kiss too early, you will lose the chance of more kisses later?.I think, when you see the pucker it’s time for the kiss…

Schultz was a philanderer. He portrayed his female characters negatively because he treated the real ones in his life accordingly.

I really wonder where this all comes from. It is a fact that Lucy was based on Schulz’s first wife, a woman with whom he apparently did not get along at all well. There doesn’t seem to be much information on the other three main female characters in the strip’s first era (Violet, Patty and Frieda) which may be why they received less character development and were eventually phased out of the strip. Lucy was the main antagonist and so what need was there for the others. The principal female characters in the strip’s second period – Peppermint Patty, Marcie and maybe even Peggy Jean (though she is seen so little that I don’t think she counts) are portrayed in a positive fashion. I think that Lucy, Patty, Violet and Frieda are all aspects of the same person and when one – Lucy – pushed her way to the fore the others became one dimensional and superfluous. To say that “He (Schulz, not Schultz) portrayed his female characters negatively because he treated the real ones in his life accordingly,” is quite frankly a big pile of something that makes your garden grow well.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t Peggy Jean and the Little Red-haired Girl separate characters?

I understand what you are saying and much of it is true. “Fundies of every stripe, denomination and religion cause more grief and evil in this world than anyone has a right to do.” That includes atheists, does it not? I have known some atheists to be as dogmatic, unbending, and “fundamentalist” as any “bible-thumper.” And speaking as a lifelong Southern Baptist, I have not known many who are as “selfish” as others portray Southern Baptists of being. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist, of course, but one’s experience - yours or mine - does not always reflect overall reality. The household and churches I was raised in always taught generosity, whether giving to the poor or tipping a waitress or lending to others - just as Christ taught. Belief (or non-belief) is an individual thing and we should expect that most people, being human, do not always live up to even their own expectations. There are many very loving and honorable Christians out there and we would be better off if there were more of them.
