“Sambos Restaurant” used to justify the name by saying it was a combination of the founders, Sam and Bob, but then they had pictures of tigers and Little Black Sambo all over the place. .Which I mention because, while it’s good the founders weren’t named Nigel and Gerald, if they had been, Lester would still insist that the name of the restaurant was not offensive.
The NYT recently ran a story about Fresno State Bulldogs and how a gang had stolen the Bulldog logo as it’s gang sign rendering “bulldogs” as an offensive symbol. google it.
