Just reading up on all the “strategies” the Bush folks came up with to get us out of Iraq, in 2004, so Republicans could gain ground in the mid term elections. Yep, Rove, Rummy, and the folks didn’t agree on anything, and the “successful strategies” they came up with got us out ten years ago, right???
BTW: “ISIS” is led by the folks the Bush Bremer “strategy” said throw out of the Army and police in Iraq because they were Sunni or Baathists. Didn’t pay any attention to who they actually were, or that they could help rebuild the country. But hey, Rummy said “Stuff happens”, so that was THEIR strategy, that gave us actually, ISIS as well as other groups today. They didn’t need to cover their eyes to formulate, ’cause their heads were protected from sunlight.
@dtroutma, doesn’t Bush deserve an “E” for effort to defend Americans after we lost 3,000 lives who never, ever, did any insult or harm to any Muslim?-If you had been in charge of opposing the Taliban and Al Qaeda, how would you have sorted out “friends” and “enemies”??? Jihadists are cowards in masks.-It doesn’t matter which mosque a Jihadist murderer belongs to IMO, if they are killing victims that are the “wrong” ethnic group, or the “wrong” religion, or the “wrong” sect of Islam, they are the ones to fight and kill. Doing less, such as Gitmo retention to keep them from continuing their murders, or trials that put them in jail or let them be released to start murdering again, will not stop the Blood Crusade.
Same, same. Generational, centuries old conflict mired in a hyper-complex geo-political environment rendered more fractured by various strands of fundamentalism in a region that just happens to be the well from which global energy supply depends… and you want one man to some solve it. Quickly. How facile. Superficial, lazy thinking represented by a superficial lazy cartoonist.

The same strategy worked for unemployment.

Okay. While I don’t think this is accurate, I will admit it’s funny.
