How many previous Presidents ignored a crisis to go golfing? How many showed president Obama’s horrific insensitivity to comment on the beheading of a US citizen and then head back to the golf course? it’s not that he golfs, it’s that he prefers to golf rather than lead our country.
“Is race the ONLY thing that the left can use for anything? Obama was a useless Senator and a useless President. It isn’t the color of his skin (even though he uses it every chance he gets), it’s the total lack of character. Yep, MLK would not have approved of BHO for any position of responsibility.”-Well said. Whenever anyone says “criticism of Barack Obama must be racist” it only exposes the insularity of their political viewpoint. Anyone who takes the time to look at Republican criticisms of the President will quickly discover that the problem is not that the President golfs but the tone-deaf way that he does so in the face of important national events, and in the context of a disengaged foreign policy that suggests that the President already considers himself semi-retired:-http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/lupica-obama-return-links-shows-lack-leadership-article-1.1912811
“what “crisis” has Obama ignored?” The morning after the Benghazi attack, Mr. Obama flew to Las Vegas for a fund raiser. He showed no interest or compassion for the victim’s families.
“Does anyone of any race see Obama as “black” anymore?”Obama’s job approval is 30% among whites, 85% among African Americans. African Americans still see Obama as “their” President. Right wingers see Obama as, “their” President, too.
mdavis: Bush merely gave up golf for biking and cutting brush in Texas, that “Western White House” outside Crawford was more his home than the one in D.C..
all it’s doing is reporting on the criticism, not doing the criticizing itself. If it’s another article, I’d like to see the link.
In the meantime, the NY Times has a long history of supporting racist narratives, both implicitly and explicitly. They also have conservatives and Republicans on their staff. Which is to say, if the NY Times has indeed criticized the optics, it is no less immune from charges of racism than any other outlet.
Nope. Not at all. And if that’s what you took from my post, well, it does confirm that your view of the world is, let’s say, rather un-nuanced. But the NY Times has definitely been a shill for military adventurism. And they only recently came around on the question of the legalization of marijuana. I don’t disagree with everything they have to say, and they have good reporting some of the time. And they’re definitely no Fox News, The Blaze, or Weekly Standard (thank god). Which actually makes what they print more consequential, and thus more in need of careful scrutiny. But hey, you’re still fighting WWII, so maybe this is beyond you.

Carter didn’t play golf? It figures. He really has turned out to be the best, most moral, and most effective president of the past 50 years.
