    It’s kind of funny, but not terribly accurate. First of all, Obama still engages in politics. He’s done fundraising for many Democrats lately, and if you listen to his Saturday radio he still demands Congressional action. Additionally the White House over the summer has increased his press availability and Q&As. To suggest Obama is not engaged in politics is inaccurate; he’s simply not engaged in the name calling and tug-of-war that some prefer.

    But the real issue with this comment is the idea that Congress cares what Obama thinks or wants his advice. The GOP only wants to know where Obama stands because that’s how they decide where they stand — in opposition. Doesn’t matter if he agrees with their previous position (cap and trade is a right wing idea, the ACA is a right wing idea, not negotiating with terrorists is a right wing idea, but if Obama does it the GOP gets angry). The Democrats often go to the media and say they want Obama to stay away, then go to the media and say he’s aloof and disengaged. WTF?

    Obama has engaged Congress, and Congress told him to bleep off. He took it for almost six years, and if he’s a little aloof now that just shows he learns from experience.

    In my opinion, Carter is better as ex-president than he was as president. After Carter passes, maybe Obama will take over that role.

    It takes a president with a special sort of class to denounce Islamic terrorists who cut off a man’s head but that president then goes out and does 18 holes of golf.

    But Obama’s idiot supporters will support him no matter what.

    Obama just came out and said he has no plan on dealing with ISIS. It’s obvious that Obama hates his fellow Americans more that are concerned about high taxes, regulations, and government spending than a bunch of Islamic terrorists that cut off heads of journalists stone defenseless women to death.

    Leftists are always abject cowards. That applies to you, Hiram.

    You mean like George W., Mr. “Mission Accomplished” used to do?Meanwhile, I bet you’re one of those who likes to lambaste Jimmy Carter for taking responsibility for the military’s failed plan to rescue the Iranian hostages, aren’t you?

    @Meh~thodology

    Carter should have got Mossad to do the hostage rescue. They wouldn’t have screwed it up. Even if by chance the mission was a failure, we wouldn’t have ended up watching such a bollocks live, in real time on CNN. Carter should have stood in Atlanta, and Obummer in Honolulu, or Nairobi, or someplace equally far away.

    If Mr. O is retiring (and he’s certainly entitled to it, being “on top of the heap,” as it were), I hope GoComics runs classic Oliphant panels. Even if you disagreed with his viewpoint, he’s done a lot of good work over the years. (Just think of it – “The Duck’s Picks!”)

    @Shanbo, is there a history of what I wrote about Bush on this site from prior to 2009?BTW, I think George Bush should be in jail.BTW, after seeing the USA quickly lose to ISIS and seeing the Obama administration in action against Ebola the only question is how can your side look in the mirror?

    A good number of the youth of Latin America has the ability to travel through Mexico.

    Seriously, you do know that people can WALK through a nation? Sheeze, you 61 year old leftists are a little ignorant. But, hey, your kids don’t have to attend the flooded with illegal immigrants schools. You don’t care that other Americans have to live with the mess that Obama makes.

    Request to GoComics: Please give some information on Mr. Oliphant… health, anticipated return, etc. and along with the information perhaps run some strips of his from the past. “On this day in 1972” or something like that. His past work could be very interesting in light of current events.
