Somebody doesn’t know his history, does he?! I always thought history would be A Lot more interesting if the subject was about human interaction and not all about the dreary and nonsensical wars which, to me, clog up the whole purpose of history in the first place… ;)

As I’ve mentioned before I first felt my years when a young lady responded to my having lived through the 60s as though I were Dances with Dinosaurs. Sigh.

My aunt knew someone whose grandfather fought in the Revolutionary war. The male line of the family had a tradition of marrying late and fathering children while in their 80’s.

WWI was big for the world, but no war was bigger for the US than the Civil War. I think it’s an honest and understandable mistake. That bird does look awfully old.

for the record I also think women should have to undergo mandatory birth control if they wish to get government subsistence. My state is paying reparation to people who were sterilized against their will back in the 50s, (at least I think that’s when they said the eugenics program was happening). I agree that people who were sterilized because they were “mentally deficient” should be given compensation. However one of these reasons the state was doing the sterilization was women having kids they couldn’t afford. They should have looked at it as a blessing. The government gave them an expensive operation for free. “Oh boo hoo I can’t spit out 3 or 4 more after the 9 I already have”.

GuiltyBystander said, 1 day agoMy mom was taking a looong list of meds two years ago but was getting worse and worse until a nurse said she had maybe a week or two to live. SIgned her up for a hospice program and knocked out ALL the meds save two inexpensive ones…she started getting better immediately. It’s been almost two years and she’s doing well at 87. GO figure..This is what is referred to as a “drug holiday”, and I posted info on it earlier. My wife is a retired registered nurse, and on several occasions doctors she worked with would do this with patients on a vast variety of drugs. In all the occasions she witnessed the results, patients improved… some dramatically!.It’s hard to point blame; but, the problem is frequently due to patients switching doctors and not fully informing the next doctor EXACTLY which drugs he/she is currently taking. Of course, not all doctors are fully aware of all the drug interactions…

When I was living in Colorado there was a lady in Denver who paid for other women to get sterilized. I remember some of the more religious folk were up in arms about the whole not being able to populate & the ACLU types had their panties in a twist since it was poor women she was paying women to do this that way they wouldn’t become more of a drain on the public. I thought her idea was great idea.
