Actually, @rotts and everybody else, when I first read the strip I was totally thrown for a loss about the socks. I thought for a while, and decided that it should have been “don’t even have socks”. I found @jad’s comment very helpful, because it confirmed what I thought.

I think it’s being very elitist to assume that what you find obvious, everybody else ought to also. Enough already!
