Assuming that other races of extra-terrestrial origin exist, we here on earth are certainly not ready, as a human race, to meet them. Who knows how many more millenia we need to advance, and overcome our basic, tribal, ethnic and aggressive instincts.

@SuperMax52“The US has LOVED WAR since 1945. It’s a great way to distract the citizens from seeing what is really going on, not that they’d care.”It’s also a fantastic way for the military industrial complex to make money hand over fist.

Moose; my thought has always been that if extra-terrestrials arrive, they will have to be far advanced above us, and most likely would be more like E.T. than Klingons. There first statement would be, “Do NOT take us to your leaders anywhere on your planet, as the all seem to be idiots.”

Read it. Excellent suggestion. Barbara Tuchman recounts some of the excessively brutal occupation methods the Germans inflicted on the Belgians, and French civilians.

Another suggestion: Recently published “The War that Ended Peace” by Margaret MacMillan. She refers to some of the trivialities among some politicians, and a certain monarch, which catapulted Europe into that Great War.
