Just a question: Does anybody know what ever happened to the highway bridge that used to go over the Plenty’s house?

It looks like the Plentys are in on the operation. They’ve been given a heads-up and know to report any new letters immediately.

quoted: "They set great store by the first one!”I am not familiar with that expression. Does it mean they made a big deal about the first letter? (That’s how I interpreted it.)

The fact that the letter got through tells us one other thing: that Axel doesn’t suspect Tracy and Annie of anything. Otherwise, he would have been cautious enough to catch Annie trying to get a letter out.

Here’s some food for thought…. we know Annie’s been sending letters OFF Thunder Island and they’ve been getting delivered… obviously.

WHO is bringingthe mail FROM Thunder Island TO Tracyville?!? It’s OBVIOUSLY not Axel himself what with the risk of being seen/getting caught….and if it is the “local Thunder Island Post Office” delivering the mail to the Tracyville Post Office, then either Belinda’s hypnotic influence extends a LOT further than anyone guessed,

On top of THAT… we now know that this ISN’T a case of misdirected mail for the last 20 years or so, and that the current postal rates apply… back in the day they would have delivered the mail as “postage due” but now (and since i work in a mailroom i know this firsthand) anything.. and i mean ANYTHING.. mailed out without proper postage gets returned to the sender for them to affix proper postage

now, before y’all say “well annie didnt put a return address on it so they cant return it to the sender”… true, but in that instance, it gets thrown into the “dead letter bin” at the post office and it disappears.. or if the Thunder Island/Simmons Corner Post Office cancelled the stamp and sent it out.. then the Tracyville Post Office would more than likely have sent the letter back to the Simmons Corner Post Office

So yeh, Axel is taking a HUGE risk by even sending out PERSONAL postage (which makes no sense.. why send out letters and jeopardize the whole thing when youve got a PHONE?!?) but i guess it’s to justify the “Simmons Corner Mailmaan” having a job.

In a nutshell, either Axel is AWARE that the letters got out, or he is just as lame as this storyline is turning out to be

I have an old phone like that and my brother installed Bell telephone works in it and it really does works. The dial pad does not work anymore but it rings, you can talk on it but cannot make call out.

I believe that a little leeway may be given to a comic strip versus say C.S.I.. I don’t read the comics for dreary realism, I read them for a momentary escape from dreary reality.

About the old fashioned telephone at Sunny Dell Acres. . .I remember that B.O. used to have to run down to Felton’s Barbershop if he wanted to use the phone to call Tracy or whatever. So, having a phone right in their house is a big improvement for them!

If the story is supposed to last 5 months, then it should go to the end of October. If Abner Kadaver is supposed to be in the Halloween story, then there is the possibility that Kadaver might be part of this crossover story.

I read an interview where Mike stated that they current story would go into September. I, for one, would love to see it go beyond that time period. I am not a fan of Abner Kadaver. I am curious, however, to see the look on Warbuck’s face when he sees his Annie now aged 10-11 when she was a teenager when he law saw her (2010). I do prefer an ageless 10-11 year old Annie rather than seeing her age.

The USPS has played its part in the rescue tale! How? Surely (?) there is not a daily pick-up from/delivery to the forbidden Thunder Island? Does Axel (or a surrogate flunky) boat his mail over to a mainland post office? How soon can Junior and the MCU team get this latest message from Annie deciphered and acted upon?

no ng you misunderstood what i meant…. WHO is leaving the island daily to bring the mail to the mainland?!!? a fllunky of axel’s? axel himself? isnt it a risk to have a hypnotised minion in simmons corner take the mail to the mainland and run the risk of them realizing its NOT 1944 afterall?!

It’s been suggested that those who love the pacing of the story unionize..OK, let’s look at this logically.1)If you post comments on the DT board you probably are a fan of the strip, one way or another..2)The majorities of posters enjoy and rarely complain about..3)Only a handful of posters complain consistently about it..4)Non-complaining comments by nature generally mean approval..5)Complaining comments are usually met by numerous rebuttals..6)Those that offer objections to the strip realize they are not going to change anyone’s opinion..

Why would there need to be a union for those who like the pacing of the strip? We just do, and there is no need to make a big deal about it. I just think that the only voices being raised on this forum, should not be those who go on and on about their suffering from ADD. On the other hand, for those who feel the need to go on this forum everyday, and make a huge deal about how this strip does not meet your expectation, there is no need to form a union, because the perfect union for those folks already exists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LBasxQ9Nyc.Name calling,,, REALLY?

None of the mail from the hypnotized ones would go out. They just don’t see it in the stack of mail that they do send out.

The problem pointed out by tsull2121 is that someone has to get the mail to the mainland. If he sent one of the islanders, they would see that it’s not 1944 in the outside world. Someone has to interface between the outside world and the island. There is some of the same problem with whoever captured Tracy, so there should be at least one person who knows what Axel is up to. Not everyone is “hypnotised.”
