Yes indeed, or jail. uncle ronnie raygun helped to ensure large numbers of un-helped people on the street with some eventually ending up in jail.

Reagan shut down the mental institutions in California and ran the patients out on the street as governor of California, so he could cut taxes. That led to other states doing the same, making the police “mental health professionals”, though not trained, or funded for it.

Robin DID have a lot of help from professionals over the years, which is why mental health care, and healing, isn’t anywhere NEAR the simple issue folks think. (folks who are idiots btw.)

Depression is difficult to manage, as is PTSD, which links very often to depression, thus the suicides among our returning troops and veterans, it’s the DEPRESSION, NOT the PTSD per se that leads to those suicides. Likewise, the violence that gets reported also isn’t the PTSD, but other “issues” that aren’t being addresssed.

Point being of the first half of the toon, is important, even those who GET professional care, even at high cost, can still be “lost”…

Rad, Robin was not worn out. Those who are take vacations, rehabs, breaks, and do not end their life by being worn out.

Depression, REAL depression, not temporary sadness, robs one of hope, and envelops its victim (yes, VICTIM) into a dark isolation with a grip one cannot describe. Medications and cognitive therapy can, and often do, help one overcome and cope. Sometimes the despair overwhelms. It is our great loss, and his wife and children’s, that Depression won this time.

All these comments ignore that Robin was a wealthy man. He could afford the best of care. This suffering man didn’t need available institutions as much as he needed help from friends and family. The public needs more education on how to help their loved ones.
