Val: Phil, I know I keep you at arm's length.
Phil: You have a family. I understand.
Val: But, you mean a LOT to me! I don't always show it, but I...I...
Val: LIKE YOU VERY MUCH!
Phil: Wow. I'm overwhelmed.
Val: Sorry. Did I overstep?
Hmmmm… The last extended Phil thread we had, they were being pushed (by Evie and the girls) to take it to the next level. We discovered that the two of them were of a mind to take things at their own pace - so the “next level” turned out to be that the two of them giddily decided to “go steady”. Phil seems to be more frustrated this time.
The last man she loved died. It can be scarey to put yourself out there after something like that. She knows that love can bring pain. If Phil is a good man and trully loves her, he will be patient with her.
Hey, BrianCook, if you’re implying that Phil dates other women behind Val’s back, I protest! He’s not that kind of guy. He hires prostitutes, like any decent, committed man. Being a cop, he knows where to find the best (and most discreet) ones.
Being patient is one thing, being a doormat is another. At some point, regardless of the baggage a person has, they either need to make a commitment or let the other person move on. Phil has been around long enough that Val should know what she wants and whether what she wants is him or not!
I think Val just isn’t interested in commitment, but a lot of women are afraid to be the first to say they love a guy.
Remember the Rita Rudner comic bit - “When I want to get rid of a man, I tell them I love them, can’t live without them, want to have children with them….. Sometimes, they leave skid marks.”

How many other women does Phil see while Val dithers? He would be a fool simply to sit at home a-twiddlin’ his thumbs (and other things).

Phil looks like yeah whats new. Val may not want more commitment.

Tune in tomorrow when the storyline ends, and when we next hear of Phil, he’s engaged to someone else :P

It’s scary to move to the next level. I agree with green_engineer, maybe Phil needs to say what he feels if he’s that frustrated.

So, what’s next? A week’s worth at the fabulous hairdresser for a wash, set, and analysis?

@ jerzy You’ve got a point there.
I hope Val doesn’t get carried away.
Nah!

What does Val think her mother is doing in Indonesia (or Thailand or wherever - the far east) with her boy friend?
Playing Patty cake?
Geez, come on!

JAM, I didn’t think this was a repeat… and I hope that’s wrong. At her age, Val really needs him.

One small step for Val, one… small step for Val.
