As a gun owner, with lots of experience using them in combat, and CARRYING them in Law Enforcement, and as a civilian with a carry permit, never having to USE them outside that combat situation, I have to state the ’toon is absolutely “on target”.
“Firearm-related homicides declined 39%, from 18,253 in 1993 to 11,101 in 2011.”-By comparison 32,479 people were killed by motor vehicles in the United States in 2011.-Of course we cannot compile statistics on crimes that have been deterred due to gun ownership, whether by actual display of the gun or by a general knowledge that a certain percentage of homeowners possess guns. I would guess, however, that if we had perfect knowledge we would find that the average citizen of the United States benefits from widespread gun ownership, even if that citizen does not herself own a gun.
The gun lobby has worked tirelessly to REWRITE the 2nd Amendment to remove its actual intent, sell the Supreme Court (some of them, anyway) to overturn CENTURIES of established precedent on the law, and sell any number of guns to ANYONE, regardless of who they are or could be — and yes, the NRA has defended the rights of potential terrorists to buy guns.
Oh, for Pete’s sake. Why not criticize the activist judges on the Supreme Court for this ridiculous revision of history?http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/12/25/1171716/-The-Second-Amendment-Has-Nothing-to-Do-with-Gun-Ownership#
Yeah, I was scrolling through the tired old arguments and name-calling, looking to see if anyone commented about the real shocker here. Reagan in heaven? Being a puppet doesn’t absolve one from starting the ball rolling for the dismantlement of the U.S. democracy.

“As Gun Sales Soar, Gun Crimes Plummet”
I pick my nose. There are no lions in town. I’m sure that proves cause and effect.

There was a point there. You did a good job of missing it entirely.
