Collect call? I haven’t heard that term in years and I haven’t made one in years. No doubt young people today would be bewildered by the term “collect call”.

This comic strip is like the Andy Griffith show some days.

Don’t worry, Frank. Clara Bell will send Goober over with the tow truck.

In one way or another, you’ll be paying for this when you daddy get’s home.

While Mother’s Day has the highest number of phone calls, the most collect calls are made on Father’s Day.But I’m thinking today wasn’t Frank’s Day!

Dad is going to be so mad at Ruthie and wish mom would answer the phone but then would not be Ruthism.

I remember those days – too well – calling ahead to customers or calling the office from pay phones about a dozen times each day.Those hang-on-the-wall phones were the best unless it was pouring rain or snowing because the fully enclosed booths were disgusting – used for all sorts of unsavory activities and never cleaned. You almost needed a bio-hazard suit to enter them.Thank the technology gods for cell phones.

I did that very thing to my father once when I was little. I’m like I can’t afford to pay for this call. Of course I’m not excepting the charges!

I wish this strip had a zoom option.
