One of Spork’s weaknesses: getting caught and fired for stealing offices supplies.

No… well, everybody ends up with the odd pen or whatever that gets put in a pocket or mixed up with the ones you brought…

But 20 years ago, I was the manager of a shop that closed, and they kept me on for an extra week packing things up,

When their truck arrived to get it all… I thought…. the driver loaded up the cartons of giftware and a few other things and told me to take the other boxes, like all the ribbon, wrapping paper, and desk supplies to the mall compactor and destroy them.

Yeah sure.Hope the statute of limitations has run out on that… the ribbon hasn’t.

If I’m not teaching, I work as a temp, so stealing office supplies would be bad for my reputation. (They probably don’t even notice how honest I am.) However, every once in a while I do leave a ballpoint pen with my name on it behind.

It’s not stealing if you take it back each workday and use the pens until they are out of ink. I have little containers that I sort the stuff out of my pockets into and take back when they get full. I bought my own stapler because they gave me a cheap plastic thing that broke within two uses.

One time that one of my first employers was moving downstate, I BOUGHT all my equipment at a “steal”. They no longer wanted the 7’ drafting tables with lots of oak drawers for my work, and even included a 4 drawer file, drafting stool, clamp on light etc. And they delivered it all to my basement. That helped me to moonlight while I continued with other companies.

That was back in the 70s and they were moving under on of those Chapters of bankruptcy.

If I own the business, is it really stealing or just sharing? I have had to steal from home, for work, so I guess it evens out in the end..JPuzzleWiz what is my strength? The ability to keep my sanity in an insane world? Almost, maybe, kinda sorta. Well they haven’t sent out the padded wagon yet…….

Never could understand why they ask what a person’s weaknesses are. Strengths, sure, but what do they expect you to say negative about yourself? The old hogwash cliche about, Oh, I work so hard that I’m a perfectionist!
