    The reason we now replace, rather than repair, is due the the planned obsolescence built into the products by the manufacturer. But…hey…what are you gonna do?

    The “less expensive” ones that people can actually afford are made with plastic gears and cheap metal. And still nothing is made in the U.S.A.. Sad.

    Sometimes, even if you want to repair a washer or other appliance, you can’t get the parts. It seems they don’t stock them after 10 years. So you do have to buy a new washer, etc.

    I had a service call on a washer and it cost me half of what I paid for it new. Next failure and I’ll just replace it.
