It’s all true…I had the TV repairman, the doctor, and the milkman come to the house when I was a kid. We could even leave cash in the mailbox for postage….change would be there the next day.
DaSharkie, you might enjoy the 1998 movie “Pleasantville” with Tobey Macguire, Reese Witherspoon, and William H Macy. Don Knotts played the part of a TV repairman..If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil the plot; however, much of the film takes place in the 1950s.
We had that once in Canada. After the doctor left, my son quipped, “I thought only Marcus Welby did that.” (This was late ’70s, but since they consider life to be an unailenable right, I suspect they still do when contagion may be a major issue.)
Don’t forget: you could leave your car unlocked in the parking lot, and it would still be there when you got back. Even if the keys were still in the ignition.
