Since Kenyon’s disappearance was known to the FBI, I expect we might be seeing some FBI agent soon. I suppose, though, that they wouldn’t connect his disappearance to this scenario yet.

That the island was evacuated in 1944 would account for the buildings and trappings dating from that era. .We also know that Axel is controlling the citizens of the island through mass hypnosis conducted with the Belinda radio show and decoder badges (and barber shop poles?!). Diet Smith is working on time travel with his project Blue Image. Warbucks states that Smith is not the only one doing this kind of work. There is as of yet no evidence that anyone’s time travel research has succeeded or resulted in sending our characters to 1944, but this possibility is in play..I’m enjoying this complex crossover very much. I’m not convinced that anyone has traveled back in time, but I applaud the audacity of putting the R+D on the table. Axel is using Kenyon to conduct research he would undoubtedly use for ill. It is in Axel’s interest for Kenyon to believe it is 1944 and that his work will be used to fight the Nazis. I don’t know why Annie was brought to the island, but will wager that Axel will be sorry she ever set foot there. What a great story!

He needed people to populate his town, so he kidnapped them and hypnotized them. Annie was brought there as a favor to the Butcher, to take her off the Butcher’s hands.

The Dr. Magpie Chronicles.Chapter 7Dick could feel the plane hitting the runway and then lifting back up in the air. He suddenly had the sensation of being on an amusement park roller coaster. He never liked roller coasters since they always made his stomach feel queasy. “Feels like I’m in the front car of the Cyclone in Coney Island”, he thought as he kept trying to stay upright. After what seemed like an eternity but was really no more than a few seconds he could feel that the plane was finally on the ground, although it felt like the plane wanted to roll over. “Pilot still doesn’t have total control of the plane”, he thought as he grimaced due to a book that was flying through the cabin hitting him on his right shoulder. “Might need to sue Warbucks over my medical bills”! He managed to joke to himself..Annie, both hands pressed as hard as possible against the wire fence that kept the public away from the runway held her breath as she witnessed the planes front wheel touch the ground and then lift back up, doing this several times until it finally stayed on the ground. “Gee, it keeps looking like the plane wants to tip over”! Annie yelled out loud in great fear to the crowd that had gathered around her to watch the landing attempt.. Finally it became apparent that the pilot was able to get control of the plane which began to rapidly slow down, quickly coming to a halt. Dick, looking out the window could see that flames and smoke were still pouring out of the damaged engine. “Please make your way to the emergency exit”! Came the urgent message over the planes intercom. “Can’t get off this flying bottle rocket soon enough”! Tracy muttered while helping usher the others on the plane towards the exit. “Please Mr. Tracy, slide down the chute quickly”! The stewardess urgently appealed to Dick when he approached the door. As he placed himself on the chute and began sliding down towards the ground, it suddenly occurred to him that if the girl Annie had somehow heard about this emergency happening to a Warbucks plane she might have come to the airport to see if the plane would land safely. Upon reaching the ground he quickly sprang up and began to search for Annie. “Shouldn’t be too hard to find a young Red haired girl”. .Annie, breathing a sigh of relief that the plane landed safely ran over to an isolated area where, being less than 100 feet away from the plane she would be able to get a better view of the passengers as they slide down the emergency chute. After a few minutes those on the plane began to leave it. “I don’t recognize anyone who was on the plane”. She thought, relieved that no one close to her was in such danger. She suddenly noticed an older, somewhat tall man wearing a bright yellow hat, red tie and snazzy suit who emerged from the plane. She quickly decided she didn’t know who he was but even from this distance she sensed an air of confidence that seemed to engulf him. “I wonder who he is”? She pondered just as the man who was scanning the area suddenly looked directly at her. Startled, Annie backed up a few steps only to be grabbed from behind by two large hands that wrapped around her throat and began to squeeze the life out of her..As Dick scanned the area suddenly his attention was directed towards a fence about 100 feet towards his right. “That has to be her”! He said right at the moment he saw someone jump up from behind Annie and place their hands tightly around her throat..To Be Continued,,,,,
