    The difference between piracy and unregulated capitalism is that in capitalism, there is less overt bloodshed. Not less bloodshed, it’s just not as visible.

    Well Claire, if you’re talking about computer technical service, you’re probably more correct than not. My experience is that their English as a group ranges from OK to very good. The trick is that they speak the Queen’s English—idiom free—and some people aren’t used to that. To me, it’s easier than listening to a strong Southrn drawl.

    Here’s what someone told me and it works every time. When the customer service rep answers, ask very pleasantly, “What country have I reached?” When they answer, with something other than America, say, again VERY nicely, “I would like to speak to someone in the United States please.” They may ask another question or two but then they HAVE to transfer you. I’ve never had a problem using this method but it’s important to be pleasant and kind.
