First appearance of Ma and Pa Silo. Axel owns the local newspaper? Is that what this is suggesting?

    Good morning all!

Ah! The Sunday strip will reveal all… maybe.

I wonder if the whole thing is an effort to recreate the Xylon explosive of Roloc Bard.

For those who don’t know Xylon was the main part of the 1985 “Tracy’s Wartime Memories” story. Via flashback it documents Tracy’s “true” first encounters with Shaky, Flattop, Pruneface and Mrs. Pruneface.

Xylon was a chemical explosive which from the one example we get of it going off was on par with an atomic explosion.

Supposedly the whole Xylon saga took place a few months before Flattop’s May 1944 death which would explain the WWII setting.

My bet is that Axel will quiz Annie about what Tracy said to her (and vice versa).

Don’t know why, but I keep expecting some old foe of Tracy’s to show up (maybe even the Nitrates).

Hmm. Interesting. Harold Gray got himself in trouble during the war when he tried to have himself given special status for gas rationing and was denied. He sought revenge by attacking some of the wartime polices in “Little Orphan Annie” and some newspapers dropped the strip as unpatriotic.

Food looks a lot better than what Mary Worth serves.

People used the smaller black phones in 1944. Those large wooden ones were gone by then.

That phone is legit. I’m 76 years old and we were still using them (party line) back in 1944. Not from a big city like some of you.

I remember phones like that from the fifties. They were out in the rural areas, but they were there, nevertheless.

Wooden Phones: Andy Griffith featured them in the 1960s. They may have appeared in Petticoat Junction and Green Acres, as well. Yes, they would have to be party lines..Annie and Axel: Annie knows Axel is a bad guy – I think – yet she is willing to meet him?.Need to get my hip boots on.

@ picara justina -what? You mean you don’t like Mary’s pool side chicken salad appetizers? How about her salmon flapjacks???

The strip yesterday was only an introduction of the Ezra Eon look-alike. Team Tracy obviously had a reason to put it in there. Prof Kenyon is sure to be a major player in this story eventually.

Good morning Dick Tracy and Annie fans. The mystery begins to clear up today. Maybe Sunday we will learn more?

Axel, being a dictator wannabe, will of course have the most advanced technology of 1944 (and secretly 2014), while the Silos are dirt farmers barely getting by with Annie’s help, so their phone is going to be behind the times.

Why does Tracy seems so flat and lifeless living in this Annie world? maybe we will find a huge thumb and fingers on the edge of our Reality and find that we are being hypnotized and brainwashed and read like funny page characters by aliens who find us all really amusing…

I am really enjoying the Annie style art by Joe. I still can’t help thinking that this is an audition for a revival of the Annie strip.

Axel seems to have some “concerns” for our little Annie. This does not bode well. But maybe the plucky redhead will be able to hornswaggle the shifty villain. Leapin’ lizards!
