The joke is that all the chain places are virtually identical despite their different names; they’re just exploiting the local people’s fondness for food carts.

I think the man is writing a daily comic strip—using a common, American idiomatic phrase. YOU should confine your “insights” to any “how-to” booklets.

Poor indie, can’t seem to wrap your mind around a comic strip. Might want to consider removing the “think” from your name. Maybe replace it with “speculate,” since you seem to be good at that. Or “kvetch”. Or “broken record”.
