That’s because there was an actual scam, now well-known, involving trying to get people to send money to a site so they could ‘process’ the paperwork and get money from a wealthy Nigerian banker. Of course, they just got ripped off, instead, if they followed through.
Since changing ISPs years ago, I’ve received almost no Nigerian scam emails. I admit that I kinda miss them with their hilariously phony sincerity and humility.

Why is it always Nigeria anyway. There’s a few hundred other countries you could use instead, but they always pick Nigeria.
