Mom: If we hurry, we'll get to the pool in time to avoid the undesirable chairs. Alice: What are the undesirable chairs? Mom: They're the older chairs between the baby pool and the soda machine. No one wants to sit in them. Mom: But if we get to the pool in time, we'll get a desirable chair! Alice: Are these the undesirable chairs, Mommy? Mom: Yes they are. Petey: Ew.

What an embarrassment for Madeline, as Alice calls her Mommy (so rarely do we hear her say that!) and she has to admit to getting the undesirable chairs. Why, even the Uh-oh Baby could cross their ill-fated path here by the soda machine! As Petey says, ew.
