    Actually, it may work. Poor thing will go blind from all those lights, and he won’t be able to see anything, shadow included.

    Rodent, marsupial, edentate… it’s all the same. Any of them could provide about the same level of accuracy as our local TV forecasters.

    Now, if you used some diffusion gels (available in many fine stage or photography supply shops), or just a sheet of silk or translucent plastic to cover those brights, the shadows should wash out rather nicely.

    Does it count if he doesn’t see his shadow b’cause its snowing? Yes!!!

    Read on for the boring explanation: Clear skies & Groundhog shadows come from High pressure systems. In winter, High pressure Systems = cold. Cloudy skies/lack of shadows = Low pressure. In early Feb, Low pressure = Winter’s “back is broken” = early spring.

    Those old farmers were smart.
