That couple in the next panel look like Frazz and Miss Plainwell from the future. Note the hairlines.

It’s wasteful……at least in most places….Here in Michigan we have so much drinking water we drive big boats on it…..

Pensioners can always leave things for a few hours or until the next day. Most other people don’t have the luxury – and so they get more done.

Watch out for the pensioners who run in the rain, they’re fast!

Frazz &Plainwell must be using some super duper hair product for their hair to repel water like that.

Well if they’re going to out in the rain they could at least sing.

    Singing in the rain

But maybe Frazz is waiting for a goodby kiss.

Frazz is NOT Calvin grown up!! And while the old lady looks like Miss Plainwell, Frazz would never use the term “joggers”.

My first thought was Calvin’s parents and that it was done as a nod to Watterson coming back to do the Pearls strips

The sun heats you up too much. Rain or early morning dark is best.

Varnes: Don’t assume. Remember Lake Erie a few years back. Ewal Doh is right about the privatization threat..Thomas Thieme: I got banned from a local art museum because my wife complained about their watering in the heat of the day during a watering ban. No explanation why I, rather than my wife, was punished. The only “explanation” was (huffily) “This is a private operation.” So was our yard, but we managed to obey the law, watering essential plants with condensate water from our air conditioner..The cartoon reminds me of the culture shock of seeing Vancouver golfers playing in the semi-permanent drizzle of the Lower Mainland. It was that, or not play at all.

Thanks Jef. It’s good they’re out and about – even in the drizzle! :~)

Every sprinkler controller has a place to attach the wires of a rain sensor, and the rain sensor costs about $50. You mount it on someplace that will be rained on when it rains, it gets wet enough to activate, and takes days of nice weather to dry enough to deactivate. While the rain sensor is active, no sprinkling. Automatic, no work, no cost.
