Or maybe they should stop having the notion that because they use it between each it means they get to be offended when others do it too.

All these years many of us have said RABBIT STEW. And, invite some rabbits to the feast, too. Make it happen, Chip. Poor little Charley.

In the American Southwest, being called a Gringo is in the same category.

Sorry if you have been called that in an offensive way, but “gringo” is not by itself a derogatory word, and less racist, because it is used to name a person of U.S. origin, regardless of race. It can be used to offend, but you need to add an adjetive or use some context, just like with the word in spanish for black.

Funny you don’t mention all the white racists and the many more bigoted things they call pretty much everyone else. Maybe go have a listen to Molotov’s “Frijolero”.

In my State, New Mexico, like everywhere, context is everything. Kid Sister calls me her Big Gringo Brother & that’s not a curse. Her family got a chuckle out of the idea, her boyfriends rolled their eyes and co-workers grinned a bit. @nailer has it right.

The strip makes a point. Don’t know why, but names have different meanings depending on who says them, and how. And to whom, I might add.
