Can anyone explain what new immigration laws, comprehensive or not, will prevent an unending stream of illegals coming across an open unsecured border?

The only thing that will prevent an unending stream of illegals coming across the border is to prevent businesses from hiring them. Duh.

This all has to do with 0 and his fellow Democrats telling every third world country to just ship your kids to America and we will clothe, feed and house them for the rest of their lives.Just another Barrrak disaster.

Sorry, I do not know what happened on the last paragraph. Here is what I meant to post:

“Besides which, there is then the loss of relatively cheap labor to such as agribusiness. Would you then (on top of the deporting costs) be willing to pay some $10 for a single tomato at your local super market?? I think not!!

Wonderful comment Mr. Landers. Not often one sees reason and fact on any subject these days. The hypocrisy of the conservatives drives me nuts. They protect the oil industry even though there goal is to balance the budget. They want to cut taxes for large corporations even though they are very profitable but keep huge amounts of money off shore to avoid taxes. Then they build fighters that will cost a quarter of a billion dollars each to buy to keep the defense industry profitable. They tout the constitution but do their best to prevent liberal voters from voting. I could go on and on. It is amazing conservative middle class voters can’t figure out they are being taken for a ride.

Let me toss in a couple more facts about immigrants. People complain about how immigrants drain our medical system and run up costs for all the rest of us. Not true. A Harvard Medical study found that only a tiny percentage (I think less than 5%) of emergency room visits were by immigrants. Why? Obviously because they are afraid of being identified, arrested, and deported. So they stay away from the ER. Another partial fallacy is about immigrants taking jobs away from Americans. I say partial because growers in California have created programs to get Americans to work in the fields. Most of the people they have hired lasted at most four hours before quitting because the work was too hot and hard. Mr. Landers suggested you might have a $10.00 tomato. I would suggest that you might be lucky to have any vegetables or fruits at all if all the immigrants are sent home. Or as Mr. Landers said, they would be prohibitively expensive for all but the ultra-rich.

Ted….Ted…..Ted……you can not support any of your assertions. Especially the one about keeping Libs from voting. We just don’t want them voting three or four times.

@Mr Landers – Actually the $10 Tomato (Hyperbole I know but I get your point) is what this country actually needs. For years Agribusiness and other businesses as well have spouted the “I can’t find anyone who will do this job…” Let me finish that sentence for you. “At the price I am willing to pay”.

If Agribusiness was held accountable to show that they were paying minimum wage for every flat of tomatoes picked or chickens processed, etc. They would have workers and the price of all our food would go up. But it would be an honest business.

Not this bastardization that we have today where everyone turns a blind eye to the illegal workers out in the field because I want my tomatoes cheap.

The problem with the Aliens is they artificially hold down the wage rates (and product prices to a lesser extent) by undercutting American workers.

They do the same at higher wage rates as well. Engineers and technical workers are seeing their wages capped as well because H1 Visas allow corporations to bring in a constant flow of foreign workers at bargain basement prices.

The Tea Party has it right on this subject:If we want Americans to enter and hold the Middle class – Then we have to make it very expensive indeed for Businesses to hire Illegal Aliens. When businessmen go to jail for hiring illegals they will be forced to enter the honest economy of hiring Americans. Yes, food prices will be higher and Yes there will be other goods and services that will go up in price. But wages should rise as well. This will also help the tax base because many of those illegals are paid under the table without paying anything in state and local taxes.

But none of this will happen as long as President 0 continues to flout the law when it isn’t convenient for him. He’s more interested in currying favor with the Hispanic community then the rule of law.

@denis – That is the issue. Obama has very selective sight when it comes to reading the laws he is supposed to enforce. And the problem with that approach is that, taken to extremes, it gives him unlimited powers and makes him a tyrannt.

I’ll enforce this law against that guy because he didn’t vote Democrat. I’ll avoid enforcing this law against this guy because I like the color of his skin, etc. etc.

The founding fathers were very frightened of exactly what Obama and Holder (the Stooge) are doing now. And for good reason.

But the press will go on apologizing for President Doofus because they can’t stand a Conservative approach to society.

A related issue is that of changing U.S. law which currently makes ANY child born within the United States a citizen. This is one of, if not the most abused law concerning immigration, as many illegals cross the border to have the expected baby, have a U.S. hospital pick up the expense, then appeal to stay with their"American" child! This debate has been going on since at least the 1970’s! (I remember it!). Yet, no republican or democratic legislature has ever acted upon it!

Kids are coming over unaccompanied because when Obama and his magic pen gave preferrential treatment to illegal kids who grow up here, they thought it was for right now. Unfortuneately, that only covers kids (now adults or almost) who have been here, not any new ones. So, back they go, but to whom?

You’re right! I looked it up, and forgot it was in the Constitution. However, I maintain it should be changed, due to the abuse it has sustained.
