I’ve actually said that to my hound.
Dogs make great doorbells.
Our house has an alram system. The police told us that our dog is more effective as a deterrent. I guess nobody has ever been bitten in the @$$ by an alarm system.
We had one dog that barked so viciously at the door, that he scared off a couple of IRS agents. The dog got steak that night.
