Looks more like Bill Watterson’s style (Calvin and Hobbs)

A reference to both, actually. ‘Pearls Before Swine’ recently featured Watterson as a guest artist.

We are each the artists of our own life, and, sometimes, we have guest artists or are the guest artists of others.

The concept has been around for awhile. Years ago, a number of cartoonists traded strips for April Fool’s Day. Shame it didn’t become a tradition.

And I believe the Pastis/Watterson guest appearance was initially Watterson’s idea.

The repartee between Roy and Kathy could be the beginning of a deep philosophical discussion.

I don’t recall how many times, but it seems like it ought to be every year. Nobody’s asked to switch with John and me yet.

Is it a Guess the style day? I go with Jef Mallet, since he and Pastis like to mess with each other, the Lampshade would be a great little dig.

The lamp sports a W on the globe and Pastis’s characters on the shade. Collaboration?

Back on April Fool’s Day in 1997, many cartoonists did other comic strips (Dilbert’s Scott Adams did “The Family Circus,” while the late Bill Keane of “The Family Circus” did "Dilbert.) Heck, Kevin Fagen of “Drabble” drew his strip with his left hand on 4/1/1997! I still have those Seattle newspapers these were in because I don’t mind seeing a comic strip drawn in a different way, just like a DC or Marvel comic book every now and then.
