Cheap shot Benson. For shame.Born in 1954 were you? How was Viet-Nam? I guess if you were a Vet you might have some reason to slam Bergdahl. But if you were a Vet I’d actually expect better of you than this. I have to admit, it’s better than your Timothy McVeigh piece.

So Patton was right to slap that soldier, and Eisenhower was wrong to make him apologize.

First the Republicans hammer the President for NOT getting B released, then because he did. Plus he got rid of 5 more from Gitmo and came one step closer to getting the place shut down. Now the Republicans are against what they were for before – typical hypocrites.

The opening scenes of “Saving Private Ryan” were controversial, and famous for the depiction of what happened to our troops in the slaughter on Omaha Beach, and of course, that those same folks who faced this, were sent on a mission to rescue ONE MAN, losing more lives in the effort.

On this D-Day, I’m reminded that many stories of war are ONLY shared with others who’ve “been there, done that”…

I feel Begdahl deserves a legitimate trial if the facts so indicate, but for those who’ve NOT “been there, done that”, like Krauthammer and all the others, STFU.

BTW: about those black flags we see, how many lives were lost in Viet Nam, searching for MIAs and POWs? Even our search for bodies as “proof” and “comfort for the families” cost many millions, if not billions of dollars, to put a “price tag” on said policy of “leave no one behind”.

The guy is an enlistee and not a draftee. What ever his motive for leaving his post, let the proper authorities discover the reason and determine his punishment if necessary.

What I fail to even begin to understand (and yes, I do have an honorable discharge from the US Military, even though I did not go overseas to a war) is how all of these ultra conservatives both here and in Congress can claim to be so very patriotic, and then have absolutely no faith whatever in our military! Why would our military go to all the trouble to seek to get this guy back from our supposed enemies, when they knew he was a deserter? Would it not have been so very much easier to have let him rot and die among the Taliban?

Or, could they (the ultra conservatives) not have a deeper motive? Such as castigating our current president for first not going after him, and now for actually getting him back? Such political hypocrisy passes all understanding!!

The real coward is the one who sits in his studio casting blame on somebody who served in a forward position. War is like sex: The ones who talk loudest are the never the ones who have actually experienced it.

For shame Steve Benson! This was the day to “remember” what we veterans have paid for your freedom and this is how you show what your think of us. Bergdahl has to go through the system before we know ANY facts. After you have “been there” and “done that” hold your commentary to what you DO know.

I was in the Vietnam lottery in 1972. Pulled a high number, wasn’t drafted. Later became a fully-sworn uniformed police officer in Arizona. Bergdahl, in my opinion, is a deserter.

How utterly amusing. After years of Steve Benson being a leftist cheerleader, and someone you collectivist buffoons would defend without fail, NOW he’s a horrible person who’s attacking POOR PFC Bergdahl.

Bergdahl is a PUNK! He VOLUNTEERED to be in the infantry, knowing what and where he would go. He was only in Afghanistan for a few months, and then deserted his unit. There are other courses that he could have taken, other than trying to defect to the side of the terrorists.

And, the only reason why his situation deteriorated is because they simply didn’t WANT the POS anymore. He needs to be court martialed, and hanged. He’s a disgrace to the human race.
