    ‘Twas the way of the sagas (well, Beowulf, anyway), linguistically—pairs of alliterations abound, in abutting half-lines. I like Hermod’s delivery!

    There is no way that Sir Dudley is a Scottish Knight. The Dudleys’ roots are in Northumberland and the Midlands. The town of Dudley is a West Midlands town and part of the West Midlands conurbation.
