They must be at our grocery store. There are always birds in there, singing away in the rafters while their compatriots on the outside freeze in below zero weather.

Yes, I came across a robin once in one of our local grocery stores. They almost had to clean up aisle 6! LOL!

Fot those who want Richard Thompson to Feel the Love, try to get your hands on a copy of the “Richard’s Poor Almanac” volume, collecting some of his pieces from the Washington Post. Covering a full 125% of a calendar year (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter Again), you’ll get valuable information such as the Spring Weeding Guide (“False Tea Rose - Looks & smells exactly like the lovely tea rose. But it’s a weed! Soon your yard will be covered in it! Root it out! Tear it up! Kill it!”), a consumer advisory concerning unsanctioned Girl Scout Cookies (Tinfoils, Dese ‘n’ Dose, Fugu Fugus, Peanut Butter Munchs), and the first appearance of P.J. Piehole’s Family Restaurant (closed by the Health Dept. because the meat and vegetable courses on the Children’s Menu were allowed to touch each other)!

It seems to be out of print, but I got a copy from the Amazon.com Marketplace. Unfortunately, this probably means Thompson won’t see a dime off the transaction (I’ll send you a check, RT). But he’ll KNOW that you’re reading it. Somehow, he’ll just know…

I always look forward to this strip and Stone Soup on Sundays in particular–color, story, humor—pathos when called for too. Petey’s a rare bird today himself, the olderbrothergotasenseofhumor bird.

I think i have seen some of those birds at the local Walmart come to think of it! I love the cereal aisle bird the best though.

Never seen one at a grocery store- health department would probably be unhappy. But the local Lowes has a whole colony going, up in the rafters.

About 6-7 inches here in Norfolk as well. Since we have nothing to speak of in the way of snow removal equipment, it will be here for a while (or at least until it rains).

I like the furry birds of the frozen-food aisle. They’re cute.

i read this at age eight and decided cul de sac is may favorite strip. now it ranks in at fourth after calvin and hobbes but before pearls before swine.
