Ji2m: yes it seems nutmeg can be fatal, but you really have to work at it (for people). It seems readily toxic to dogs.

you actually can get a really unpleasant “high” from nutmeg. do a google sear h and enjoy reading about silly teenagers getting sick from their parents spice cabinet…

I looked it up once in a toxic herb book Nutmeg can be fatal if you consume either one or two ounces (not sure which), but the key is you can’t vomit it back up. It is often used as a cheap hallucinogen.
