By this logic, we should shut down the defense department.

Right, since Obamacare there are no more private insurance companies, because the federal government nationalized the whole system. Right?

Except the ACA isn’t health care nor government run. It’s a set of insurance reforms and mandates. Said insurance is offered by private companies. Not that Ariail would allow the facts get in the way of his meme.

How many new pages of rules and regulations were added to the Federal Register to run it Jase? How many federal agencies were tasked with some part of its enforcement… For example the IRS is collecting “taxes” of various sorts on Obamacare.Who operates the insurance exchange website in 36 states that was put disastrously in place by the Health and Human Services department under Kathleen Selebus?.The federal government runs obamacare. Denying that obvious fact would require either studious ignorance of the facts or an unfathomable level of stupidity.

Grady has it right, in many, many, ways, it is the Pentagon and DOD that has been the train wreck, recognized by Eisenhower.

I like Shinseki and find him an honorable man. He came into a postion that made herding cats a breeze. The agency, for good, and for bad, has been a mess for DECADES! I’ve had very good PHSICAL care, but found many in the psych department, “lackng”. I DID have an excellent contractor psychologist who helped me tremendously with my PTSD, but another psychiatrist, and another psychologist were awfull. The last few years, I’ve been working with another good psychologis, who left VA, because of the bureaucracy, but he’s still doing me good, charging now to medicare and my private insurance.

Yes, the VA, kinda’ like the Roman Catholic Church, you know, that totally new and green organization, can use improving, but dont the the vets out with the scum water that IS today’s Republican witch hunters, and low I.Q. favorites.

“Obamacare” is NOT government run health care. It’s a means of affordably connecting people to privately run health care. Get your facts straight, if “facts” are even part of your argument..Yeah, never mind. I know the answer to that last part.

^Getting in IS the problem! Back in ‘95 I got in in only 10 months when most guys were taking four YEARS to get on board. Sen. Hatfield’s office tracked my case, and speeded it up.

Under Bush 41, then “42” vets were denied, three times, and forced to go to the Court of Appeals, slowing them down, by YEARS! Under Obama, my niece’s husband had a stroke, was Air Force but NOT “service connected” and they got him in and into treatment in less than two months! I don’t know if this was because of his emergency, or just the region he was in, but they were relatively quick.

Again, the VA is far from perfect, but Obama HAS done more for Vets than “W” ever thought of doing.

Another cartoonist preaching to the Faux News teabagger choir. American for profit health care has the statistics to prove its efficacy and this metaphor is more representative of the present system owned and run by the one percent who don’t give a damn about the rest especially the uninsured.

I agree. Congress is much more responsible than the Oval Office in this situation. And probably in most situations. But my concerns about how well whichever branch of the government will run it still stand. I’m sorry. I just don’t have faith in the bureaucracy.

As far as the actual system itself…I’m not thrilled with it. But that’s more because I don’t really think it addresses the real problems, like the cost of malpractice insurance, drug patents, the shortage of health care practictioners, and some others. Getting everyone access to insurance is a decent step. It’s not the war.

I myself wouldn’t necessarily oppose socialized healthcare. To be honest, I know very little about it and would want more information before I decide. It’s not really an issue for me of capitalist vs socialist. It’s a question of practicality and privacy.
