As the problem is decades old, just wondering, as I know that despite problems, large numbers are being well served by an overstretched system, is the target VA, or just one more shot at trying to blame Obama for everything that’s gone wrong since Hamilton underestimated Burr’s marksmanship.

All of this stuff about the VA reminds me of when I was a student observing in a VA hospital, and was taken on a tour of the department I was visiting. Opening the door to a huge closet, my guide explained, “This is where we store all the expensive equipment we never use…we have to order things every year or lose our equipment budget.”

The VA was broken LONG before our health care system crashed and burned…

The other side of the sign says “Welcome to Obama Care”.

I like the VA’s cubicle arrangement for its bureaucrats and administrators.

BTW: having been in the system since ‘95 (it took 30 years after ’Nam for me to file) I’ve seen variable results at VA. What I’ve noted in that time is that things IMPROVED under Clinton, went down under “w”, and have been improved again under Shinseki. The HUGE increase in volume, Iraq/Afghan vets, PLUS all the old fogies for ’Nam etc coming to the system is several times increased, while funding from CONGRESS has only increased about 50%.

Magicawalnut: NOTE: it’s also not just $$, but PERSONNEL that need to be increased, and that point made on “equipment” but not having the staff to properly use it, IS VALID!

Nick Anderson has already taken this metaphor.
