TIK TIK TIK TIK Gramma Evie: Doesn't that sound fun?? Alix: WAAAAAA Val: Yes, Mom. It sounds like so much fun I don't think Alix can TAKE it.

Poor Alix, she is really taking this hard. Maybe Evie should say something like she’ll be sure to take lots of pictures especially for her, or that she will be thinking of her when she gets to the elephant reserve, or that she really does miss her, but she needs to have some adult time, too. Gotta feel for Alix as she seems to have a special relationship with Evie… ;)

I think Alix wished that she was with her grandma in Africa.

Summer vacation? Buy the kid a round trip ticket and send her to Grandma!

@annette The hotel staff did not want us to see the thousands living in cardboard and tin shanties on the edge of a burning trash dump. Miles of it on the road to Addo. They kept lying and saying “nothing to see there” “don’t waste the day” etc. Of course it was wonderful and worth it. BTW there is NO poverty in the USA by comparison. The rich there are embarrassed ostriches.

It’s harder to put a guilt trip on Evie if it’s not a face-to-face conversation. If Alix turns on the water works, Evie might be tempted to change her mind.

Isn’t Evie the only grandparent Alix has left?

Very good point I think Evie would Skype the family. Guess she knows Alix and did not want to listen to the crying of longing to go too.

Poor Alix missing out on all the adventures grandma has and grandma would not Skype the family.

Poor Alix.

Alix needs to learn that she can’t share in everything that everyone does. Her mother does not have that much money. That’s the way life is.
