Gramma Evie: I made my granddaughter jealous with news of the elephant park...maybe I should quit sharing. Arnold: No... Arnold: Just tone it down a little. Gramma Evie: OK...Dear Family, it's fall now...cloudy days and some rain... TIKKA TIK Gramma Evie: The gray elephants will probably blend in with the gray skies and be hard to see. It won't be that much fun. Alix: Nice TRY, Gramma!
Elephants can be very hard to spot in a game reserve. I haven’t been to the Addo Park but I have visited the Kruger Park a few times. The elephants browse among the tall leafy trees; on one occasion we had been looking across the river at a thickly wooded area. After about an hour we realised that there were about 20 or more elephant grazing among the trees. They are such huge creatures but they blend in very well. The lions often rest and hide among the long grasses; they are almost the same colour and can be invisible from a few feet away. it is best to visit wildlife areas during the winter months as the vegetation is much sparser and game is much more visible.
