    Maybe its because Mayflies come in June and June bugs come in July. Two strikes and you’re out . . .

    Makes me wonder – in the Southern Hemisphere would they be called November flies and December bugs?

    Beautiful artwork and coloring today! The Sunday strips are always so lovely. In addition to the beautiful bugs, even the wall is pleasing.

    Growing up back in the late fifties we would catch June bugs (the big shiny green ones) and tie a string to one of their legs. We’d fly them like a kite. Until of course there was the eventual leg separation from its body. FYI June bug legs don’t fly worth a darn.

    puggles: My dictionary defines June bugs as “the May beetle”, which is probably why they first show up in April.
