If glasses are such a great fashion statement why do people spend a fortune on contacts and laser eye surgery to avoid wearing glasses?

I have to wonder why the first Heavenly Nostrils book wasn’t named “Marigold and Her Odd Creature”.

I remember thinking along these lines once as a kid, jealous of the kids that wear glasses. Ironically, in my mid-teens, I ended up getting prescribed some, and been happily wearing them ever since. Maybe Phoebe will luck out and have the same happen to her in due time.

When I was in 6th grade, I BEGGED my mother to take me to the eye doctor – I had been telling her I couldn’t see things far away for about a year. Her answer to me was that ALL kids want glasses. When we FINALLY went to the doctor, she was surprised that, yes, I was nearsighted. So glad I didn’t give up telling her.

Try that on your mom’s glasses.

Marigold has such a wonderful way of putting things, “You are cursed with the ability to see things.” And absolutely straight-faced. I guess when you have multiple extraordinary abilities the world, um, looks different.

@ H,H,H!!!: Seems to me that those glasses are kind of a waste since a rabbit’s forward view accounts for only about 12%-15% of it’s total vision.

Kind of like when braces were a sort of status symbol.

    Total non sequitur:

My wife and I just got back from eating at Golden Corral (an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant). While there, for dessert we got soft-serve ice cream. I’m dispensing soft-serve and suddenly chuckle and start going “Rar. Rar. Rar.” My wife looks over, rolls her eyes and says, “That’s enough Todd.”

I don’t like wearing my glasses, but I look good with ‘em. Without my glasses, I’m blind and look ugly.
