And being a music major used to mean long, long hours in an airless practice room with bad lighting and a clunky piano.

Considering the action he has seen, well, keep asking. They can only say yes or no.

He wants to keep supporting the oil wars by driving gas guzzlers. I wonder what Alec thinks about that?

What I’d like to know is..How does Walden come up with such a caring professor? Think Toggle would have had the same treatment at an Ivy League?

In the early Nineteen-Seventies, when I got back from the war, I went to a state university, and there was a full-time VA representative right on campus in the administration building!

If my check was wrong or late, or if I wanted to just hang out and have coffee, that guy was there. All it took was a single well-placed telephone call, and my problems would be gone, usually within a couple of days. Paul Miller was the guy’s name. He’s dead now, but I will always remember him.

Thanks to everyone for explaining that last panel. I hadn’t a clue. I thought he wanted a bicycle (22” rims, right?).

And I notice he stutters less when he’s talking about it, and his eyes light up.

Leo (Toggle) is not at Walden, but at some local community college (as was alluded to earlier in the strip.) Apparently Leo is smart enough to realize that if he actually wants to learn something he had to go somewhere other than the glorified diploma mill which is Walden. Note also that Walden never was seriously considered by Alex when it came time for her to choose a college despite (or because) her old man being an alumni.

oshkosh- thoses days are LONG gone, the Bushies cut VA spending to give haliburton no-bid contracts and Private secirity companies(blackwater) the money that we Vets should be getting. Sadly the current President hasn’t recified that yet.
