And I thought MY lunch bags screamed that I am the Queen of Scraps, Leftovers and Make Do.

I had a n aunt who would rinse /reuse coffee filters. I can’t say much about her because in her will she left me $1,000.00. Who knows how much I would have gotten if she had the same policy with …let’s say napkins.

I had an aunt and uncle who, in retirement, spent summers in their small trailer at a fishing camp in Texas, and eventually, my parents joined them..

Staying with them, on the first visit, my mother was horrified when her sister strung a small elastic clothesline in the tiny kitchen, washed their paper plates, and hung them to dry.

    Yikes.

Starting the next year, Mom and Dad brought their own trailer… and real… or at least, melmac…. plates. We could never figure out why my aunt thought washing paper ones was easier.

Back when a pound of butter came wrapped in waxed paper – my aunts used to save that paper so they could butter the muffin tins. Grannie was not impressed with her sisters. (I know – actually great aunties) – Grannie told mom she didn’t have to save the paper from the butter. – That there are some things that could be ‘wasted’. Everything else you re-use or lie and say you re-use. ;)
